The OBD-AUS WiFi Forscan scan tool works by being plugged into your OBD2 port and reading data from a number of sensors on your Ford or Mazda. You will find this port within 50cm of your steering wheel and it is easy to access. Check our post here on how to find it. This data is then displayed on your phone, tablet or computer using the Forscan software that has been created specifically for Fords and Mazdas. This tool gives you a professional dealer type diagnostics setup* at the faction of the price. Paid for some versions and free for others. The windows full version is free (for a limited time) and the demo version of the app is free but the paid version of the app is $9.
You can check what fault codes are showing and what they mean when they happen on your car. With Forscan it allows you to access all the systems on your car so you can see ABS, Airbag etc faults and clear them. This is a fantastic piece of software and you can view all of its features here.
You can find out why the annoying check engine light keeps coming on and fix this problem and clear the check engine light. Saving you from having to go to to the mechanic and paying $100 just to do a scan on your car. A must have for any Ford or Mazda owner. Also it brings in all the default Ford and Mazda PIDs so straight away you can have a live feed of your transmission temperature or anything else you want.
Unsure about OBD2 and the benefits it has then check out our blog post here!
There are many OBD2 scanners, but does the FORScan somehow differ? Yes, because it is designed especially for Ford and Mazda vehicles. So supports specific features of the manufacturer protocols, making the FORScan more powerful with these models than any regular OBD2 scanner.
For example, FORScan can detect modules which are not visible for regular OBD2 scanners, can show you trouble codes which are never displayed by OBD2 scanners, can show you PIDs which are not supported by any OBD2 scanner, run specific tests and service procedures*. In other words, FORScan can do things that regular OBD2 scanners can not do.
Main Features:
- Detect vehicle on-board network configuration
- Read and reset Diagnostic Trouble Codes from most modules (see list of supported modules)
- Reading of modules’ sensors’ data
- Run test diagnostic procedures* (not supported in FORScan Lite yet, need to use Windows version not app)
- Run service procedure* (not supported in FORScan Lite yet, need to use windows version not app) Supported vehicles: Most Ford, Mazda, Lincoln, Mercury vehicles that can be addressed by supported adapters. It is 99% of models after 2000*.
MS/HS Can Switch – What is the Switch for?
This allows our FORscan scan tool to access both the MS and HS system so this means you get access to most of your car’s modules.

FAQ’s:
How do I connect (iOS users)?
Ensure the scanner is firmly plugged in on your vehicle’s OBD port, and that the vehicle is powered (dash lights are on).
Head to phone settings – WiFi – Click the blue ‘i’ icon next to OBDII WiFi network.
Click on Configure IP
Click Manual then enter the details below:
IP Address: 192.168.0.11
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.0.10
You may also need to toggle the silver switch to different positions to connect to some modules.
Will it work with my car?
If your Ford or Mazda is 1998 or newer then yes it is full OBD and it may work with your car*. If you car is older or if you are in doubt then please contact us.
NOTICE: Please note that this will not work on Ford Transits 2010+, Ford Ranger T6/PX (2012+), Ford Everest 2003+, BT50 2006+ and any Ford F-Series Truck.
How do I install it and get it to work?
All cars have a diagnostics port (OBD) and if your car is OBD it has to be within reaching distance of the steering wheel. Look under the steering wheel and above your pedals and you will find it. Then all you have to do is plug it in and download the app on your phone or to your computer. Note that as you are using third-party software on third-party devices, OBD2 Australia will only provide support for hardware issues limited to defects (such as repairing or replacing your FORSCAN device, provided it’s proven faulty). If you need software or connectivity support you can contact FORSCAN or your device manufacturer. This device requires a technique to set-up and use, and just because it fails to connect does not mean it’s faulty. There are a myriad of factors to consider why the connection fails.
What is the switch for?
The switch on allows the OBD-AUS Forscan to access most protocols including MS-CAN & HS-CAN which standard OBD2 scan tools cannot access.
Will it clear my engine fault and tell me whats wrong?
Yes it will do both of these. In the app you just click on check engine faults. It will then come up with code like this P0171 – Oxygen Sensor. So you know the problem is with the oxygen sensor and then the best thing to do is google the code and your cars year and model. e.g. Toyota Hilux 2017 P0171. Nine times out of ten this will be a common problem and the answer will be the first thing that pops up.

PRODUCT LIMITATIONS: IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ ALL BELOW PRIOR TO PURCHASE.
*To ensure full compatibility, it is imperative that buyers contact OBD2 Australia first prior to purchase. We will need the vehicle year, make and model and the functions you need to confirm compatibility. Some Ford/Mazda vehicles have compatibility issues with FORSCAN, which is why we need to check first if it works or not. Note that returns and requests for refunds due to product incompatibility (without consulting OBD2 prior to purchase or going against OBD2 Australia advise) will be fully subject to our Returns and Refunds policy.
*Notice: This device is unable to do PATS2 (2012+) programming on FORSCAN as that requires a seamless, electronic HS/MS switch.
*This device is currently not compatible with Ford Ranger T6/PX (2012 and up) or any vehicle with the same motor. Note that due to the many ECU firmware versions installed on FORD/MAZDA ECUs, there are instances where this scanner may not work with your FORD/MAZDA vehicle.
*NOTICE: Please note that this will not work on Ford Transits 2010+, Ford Ranger T6/PX (2012+), Ford Everest 2003+, BT50 2006+ and any Ford F-Series Truck.
*FORSCAN may sometimes warn users that ‘The adapter is NOT recommended for this car – some FORScan functions may not be available or not work properly’. If during the initial scan, most modules are present then you can ignore this warning as the tool will work as normal. This warning is due to the fact that FORScan prefers you to purchase the more expensive tools that they sell. This warning is NOT indicative of a ‘faulty’ scanner as long as the software is able to read your vehicle and its modules.
Firmware updates are NOT AVAILABLE on this device. Ensure that the function you need to perform does NOT REQUIRE newer versions of the firmware.
Software related issues are beyond our scope. As such we are unable to provide additional support for software issues, so direct all concerns to FORSCAN Support.

Easy to set up and use. Use it on my Ford Falcon.
Awesome product.
All good, works well!
I have purchased an OBD2 for a bmw motorcycle and a FORScan scanner for a Ford. Both products were shipped quickly and work a treat after following the clear instructions. The best bit is the pricing for such reliable products. Strongly recomended
Nifty device, easy to use and works as advertised.
