The OBD-AUS Forscan scan tool works by being plugged into your OBD2 port and reading data from a number of sensors on your Ford or Mazda. You will find this port within 50cm of your steering wheel and it is easy to access. Check our post here on how to find it. This data is then displayed on your phone, tablet or computer using the Forscan software that has been created specifically for Fords and Mazdas. This tool gives you a professional dealer type diagnostics setup at the faction of the price. Forscan is free for some and paid for other versions.

You can check what fault codes are showing and what they mean when they happen on your car. With Forscan it allows you to access all the systems on your Ford & Mazda so you can see ABS, Airbag, SRS, etc faults and clear them. This is a fantastic piece of software and you can view all of its features here.

You can find out why the annoying check engine light keeps coming on and fix this problem and clear the check engine light. Saving you from having to go to to the mechanic and paying $100 just to do a scan on your car. A must have for any Ford or Mazda owner. Also it brings in all the default Ford and Mazda PIDs so straight away you can have a live feed of your transmission temperature or anything else you want.

Unsure about OBD2 and the benefits it has then check out our blog post here!

There are many OBD2 scanners, but does the FORScan somehow differ? Yes, because it is designed especially for Ford and Mazda vehicles. So supports specific features of the manufacturer protocols, making the FORScan more powerful  with these models than any regular OBD2 scanner.

For example, FORScan can detect modules which are not visible for regular OBD2 scanners, can show you trouble codes which are never displayed by OBD2 scanners, can show you PIDs which are not supported by any OBD2 scanner, run specific tests and service procedures. In other words, FORScan can do things that regular OBD2 scanners can not do.

Main Features:

  • Detect vehicle on-board network configuration
  • Read and reset Diagnostic Trouble Codes from all modules (see list of supported modules)
  • Reading of modules’ sensors’ data
  • Run test diagnostic procedures (not supported in FORScan Lite yet)
  • Run service procedures (not supported in FORScan Lite yet)Supported vehicles:All Ford, Mazda, Lincoln, Mercury vehicles that can be addressed by supported adapters. It is 99% of models after 2000.
  • Program new keys

FAQ’s:

Will it work with my car?

If your Ford or Mazda is 2000 or newer then yes it is full OBD2 and it will work with your car. If you car is older then please contact us. Also will work with other brands of cars that are 2006+ but you will not use the FORscan app but use Torque app.

How do I install it and get it to work?

All cars have a diagnostics port (OBD) and if your car is OBD2 it has to be within reaching distance of the steering wheel. Look under the steering wheel and above your pedals and you will find it. Then all you have to do is plug it in and download the app on your phone or to your computer. Check out our installation page here!

What is the switch for?

The switch on allows the OBD-AUS Forscan to access all protocols including MS-CAN & HS-CAN which standard OBD2 scan tools cannot access.

Will it clear my engine fault and tell me whats wrong?

Yes it will do both of these. In the app you just click on check engine faults. It will then come up with code like this P0171 – Oxygen Sensor. So you know the problem is with the oxygen sensor and then the best thing to do is google the code and your cars year and model. e.g. Toyota Hilux 2017 P0171. Nine times out of ten this will be a common problem and the answer will be the first thing that pops up.

I’m a novice. The scanner gave me codes for faults and has pointed in the direction to get my 302 running as it should.
Great product. The only scanner i know of that can handle a change in code in 2 cars (Ford) of the same model only 3 years apart. Thanks guys. Money well spent.

  4. Mark

Brilliant, fast delivery, good instructions and worked out of the box.

  5. Steve Greinke

    Works a treat.

  6. chris

this is an excellent product which proved invaluable to identifying the problem area which then allowed me to pinpoint the actual cause of the problem.
A very important note is ,this tool will only be as good as the software you use with it so if you don’t use a quality app this tool can’t do its job .
I have recently swapped everything from a top of the line BF Fairmont ghia into a base model falcon wagon including ecu, entire dash ,column, wiring harness (modified) and ABS traction control unit and without this obd2 scan tool it would have been near impossible to get this car working .
The 1 complaint i have for this unit is no instructions at all and i find “computer I. T .people ” just assume everybody knows what they know ,we don’t have a clue ,so what is the switch for on the unit ? is says MS and HS well that’s a great help still apart from this it is a great tool .

  15. Scott G.

After trying several other ones from supposedly trust worthy sites, this is the only one that actually works. Unfortunately, the forscan app for android devices is quite basic, but they say a better one is coming. Otherwise, it does what it says
