This is a common question that people ask us, so we thought we would do up a quick guide on how to use an OBD2 scan tool with Bluetooth. The best thing about these tools is that they offer great value for their price and are easy to use. It is important to note that these Bluetooth devices will only work with Android mobile phones and tablets, and will not work with Apple products.

Step 1: Buy an OBD2 bluetooth scan tool. (Like our one here)

Step 2: Download the app that you would like to use from the Play Store on your Android device. We suggest you start with the Torque Lite app.

Step 3: Plug your OBD2 scan tool into the car’s OBD2 port. Most likely this will be under the steering wheel somewhere. Turn your car’s ignition on until all the dash lights come on.

Step 4: Turn on your phone, go to your Bluetooth settings and search for the OBD2 device. Most likely it will be called OBD (or something). If it asks for a password, enter “1234” or “0000”. Once this has connected successfully, you can go back to your phone’s home screen.

Step 5: Open up your OBD2 app on your phone. If it is Torque, make sure you go to settings and click on OBD2 adaptor. Make sure you set it to Bluetooth connection and not Wi-Fi. It should connect to your car and you will see live data and faults, etc.

Step 6: You can turn your car on now and go for a drive if you want to test on the gauges, etc.

Hopefully, this has been of some help to you!
